Welcome North Carolina Sports Fans!

Each week, I will write about North Carolina sports, primarily at the professional and college levels. We have a rich heritage of sports in North Carolina, even looking beyond the tobacco road college basketball teams.

College Football begins play this weekend. What better game to begin this blog than the aforementioned South Carolina versus NC State game. The battle for the Carolina’s should be a good one kicking off Thursday night at 7pm. In other games, Wake Forest plays Baylor, North Carolina plays at the Citadel. East Carolina plays Appalachian State and Duke plays at Army. Next week, we’ll break down the prospects for each team once we see them in action.

In their final pre-season game, Carolina hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers. Carolina is looking a bit rough around the edges – and I hate to admit it, but I feel they are overrated. We’ll see how the year goes. Delhomme is a somewhat consistent quarterback, but the team lacks the superstar needed to win postseason games… In the final year of his contract, I hope the team has plans for the position next season.
