UIGEA Enforcement Delayed

Word is spreading fast that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) regulations that were supposed to go into effect next Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, will be delayed for at least another six months. This is great news for online gamblers and poker players from the United States.
The new deadline for enforcement of the regulations will now be June 1, 2010 with an option for an additional delay if the law hasn’t been sorted out by that time. I’d like for those members of Congress that oppose online gambling to think on that one long and hard…..we as adults have not elected you to be our babysitters and wish you would stop trying to do so. This was a stupid and unnecessary law that was attached to the Port Security Bill that was signed into law in October 2006 by then President Bush.
Long time advocate of online gamblers rights Representative Barney Frank will begin discussions on overturning the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act on Thursday, December 3rd. The petition to repeal the UIGEA has gained the support of more than 50 members of the United States Congress and nearly every leading banking institution in the country.
If approved, Representative Frank’s online gambling legislation will lay the foundation for regulation of the online poker and gambling industry in the United States. So lets make sure to show our support to him on this piece of legislation by letting our politicians know that we want our rights back and the freedom to fund online gambling .
And for those of you that do not play poker or gamble online, just ask yourself this question. Do you really need the US Government telling you what you can and can not play online ?
