The Right to Play Online Poker
Yesterday we Americans celebrated the United States 233rd birthday. Here in my neck of woods Independence Day is a time to fire up the grills and have a good old time with family and maybe a few friends. And you got to have plenty of fireworks ! Nothing like the big bangs and all the bright flashes in the sky to help remind of us what a great country we live in.
This year the wife and I decided to ride on out to the oldest daughter and her husbands house. And yep, we had hamburgers and hot dogs off the grill, and even had apple pie and watermelon to boot
. We finished the night off with the son-n-law putting on one humdinger of a show with a huge selection of fireworks.
During the drive back home I got to thinking about all the rights we as American citizens have in this country thanks to our founding fathers and those that have fought to keep our freedoms throughout history. And all that thinking lead me right back to the fight we poker players have trying to get the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act(UIGEA) repealed that the former Bush administration passed into law in 2006.

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has been fighting for our right to play online poker since that day in October of 06, and now they have declared a National Poker Week which will run from July 19th to 25th. You can visit the National Poker Week website at www.nationalpokerweek.com to learn more.
While at the National Poker Week website you can sign a Poker Petition and join thousands of other poker players in letting President Obama know that you believe in personal freedom and want the rights of law abiding, poker-playing Americans protected. July 22, during National Poker Week, the Poker Players Alliance will present the petition to President Obama .
Let your voice be heard and join the fight to continue our rights to play online poker !
