Thank You Online Poker Community

Online Poker Communities can be a right close nit, be it blogs or poker forums. Back a couple years ago I had gotten the bad news that I had cancer …and I was told that I only had a few months to live so I decided to make one last trip with the wife before I left this old world…

The wife couldn’t drive my old Ford truck, so I sold it and used that money to make a trip up to Canada to see Niagara Falls. (I always had wanted to see what all the fuss was about) It was in May 2007 and a good online poker friend named Brad offered to put us up for the week. So we jumped in the wife’s’ Volvo and drove right at a thousand miles to his home in Ontario .

It was while there that Brad showed the wife and I what he and some others at the forum had started . Unbeknown to me, they had actually made a site to raise funds for my medical bills. I was in shock to say the least, and call it foolish pride, but it felt very awkward even accepting the money…..

I could barely talk back then due to a cancer and four polyps on my vocal cords, so we took that money when we returned home and used it towards the surgery to have them removed and I was then able to get my voice back. I’ve not stopped talking since ! The act of kindness that those folk showed me done an awful lot to change my perspectives on life and gave me the will to fight that I needed .

So anyhow, it’s been two years, and I want to thank the online poker community and everyone that helped once again !

I also want to thank my darling wife of 28 years as well for being at my side and helping me through it all. During all the health issues for the last two and half years she has had to endure a helluva lot putting up with me. I can be a might grumpy at times and not many women would have put up with it as well as she has.
