South Carolina Senators fight Poker
Here’s some political news from South Carolina. Poker players, and anyone else that believes in the rights of American citizens to play card games should remember this come election day. South Carolina gambling laws actually makes any card or dice games illegal. And yes folk, that technically makes Yahtzee, Rummy and even Monopoly all illegal under the current state laws !
The Poker Players Alliance has learned that three members of the South Carolina Senate are attempting to hold hostage S.535. This is a bill that would make needed changes to the state’s gaming laws and ensure that poker players are not made criminals.
They are Senator David Thomas and Senator Mike Fair, both of Greenville and Senator Wes Hayes from Rock Hill. The bill S. 535 was passed out of committee with a strong bi-partisan support and by a huge majority. And one Senator Mimi Walters is attempting to circumvent the legislative process by not letting this important bill be voted on.

These politicians are trying to use a senate rule to keep the gambling laws in South Carolina as they were made during the time of President Jefferson in the 1820′s ! It is past time to change the laws here folk, and make it legal to play poker in our own homes. If you believe in that right don’t just sit on your can and do nothing, voice your opinion to your government officials and let them know where you stand. And vote come election days !
I also encourage folk to join the Poker Players Alliance. They have all the needed to tools to contact your officials with very little time and effort.
