SC Poker Players Under Attack !
Once again, South Carolina poker players are under attack !
As you know, last year Circuit Judge Markley Dennis overturned the gambling convictions of five Mount Pleasant poker players because poker is a game of skill and therefore not prohibited under SC law. Instead of abiding by Judge Dennis’ decision, State Attorney General Henry McMaster, who is running for Governor, has engaged in a desperate attempt to uphold the criminalization of playing poker in your own home!
In contrast, the Greenville News recently editorialized that the state’s gaming laws, particularly with regards to playing home poker, should be clarified, not subject to stricter enforcement, precisely the opposite of Mr. McMaster’s position.
This is a direct attack on our freedoms and we need your help to combat it. Please take 60 seconds to call, email, and tweet Attorney General McMaster:
Call Attorney General McMaster @ (803-734-3970) and let him know:
* You are a voter and a poker player.
* You think it is ridiculous to equate poker players with hardened criminals.
* Poker is a game a skill and is NOT a crime in South Carolina
Our rights as poker players are on the line, so please take action today!
You can also email the Attorney General’s office by taking just 60 seconds of your time to fill out a form by clicking here.
Editors note: This above is a copy of the PPA Action Alert that was sent out by the SC PPA State Director, John Ridgeway .
