S.C. Proposal to Legalize Poker

South Carolina gambling laws forbid all games of cards and dice. By the terms of those laws even games like rummy and monopoly are illegal in the state. Sounds funny I know, but it’s not in the least for those that believe in our freedoms to play cards in our own homes.

Those that know me know the anger I have towards those politicians that have preached  on the stump about how they believe in protecting Americans rights, but turn right around and make a stand against all forms of gambling. Here in the state of South Carolina, and across the United States, there has been an over abundance of Republicans fighting against the freedoms of American adults to even play online poker in their very own homes.

I was pleasantly surprised to read in yesterdays local paper, the Sun News, that some members of the legislature have proposed a Statehouse gambling bill that will finally let small groups of friends play legally in the comfort of their homes. Going against his own party, State Sen. Glenn McConnel (R) states that “The state’s got no business trying to regulate what card games you play inside your home.” At last we have someone on the right speaking with a reasonable mind that must truly believe in the rights of all citizens.

The issue of gambling in South Carolina is currently in front of the State Supreme Court.
