South Carolina local Catholic priest Rev. Andrew Trapp, from St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City, returned home Sunday after competing against three other people in Los Angeles on Saturday for a chance to win $1 million playing poker.

Reverend Trapp had flown to LA earlier last week for the TV taping of Fox networks “PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge” that is due to be shown Dec. 27th. He had won the opportunity by playing for free in a freeroll online at Poker Stars.

Rev. Andrew Trapp has already won $100,000 on the show which he gave to the St. Michael Catholic Church building fund, and if he managed to win the poker games taped Saturday, he’ll be adding another $100,000 to the church’s purse. He is unable to say whether he did or not till after the show due to contract clauses, and we wouldn’t want the show spoiled anyhow.

A win this past Saturday would also give him a seat in the $1 million season finale. We here at Carolina Gambler will be looking forward to the show to see if he advanced or not.

The local paper, the Sun News quotes Trapp as saying, “Whether I won or lost, I think my parishioners will be proud of me. And I really thank them for their prayers and support. It means a lot to me.”
