Poker Film to Star Leonardo DiCaprio
There’s a lot of talk going on in the online poker circles about an upcoming film that will be starring Leonardo DiCaprio . There’s really not a lot to tell at the moment other than it will be set in Costa Rica and that Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the writers of “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “Rounders”, are to write the script.
The movie is said to be focused on the world of Online Casinos based in Costa Rica, and DiCaprio will supposedly produce the film by way of his own company, “Appian Way”. At the moment there is no word on a director or any other cast additions .
Here at Carolina Gambler, I have to wonder what this will mean to the online gambling industry , if anything. Will it portray something sinister and terrible that will give those that are trying to keep the UIEGA laws set as they are ammunition to use ? Like putting some sort of a light on online gambling as just those fat lazy slobs that just sit in front of a monitor all night blowing their kids food money by playing blackjack online, with an empty bottle of cheap rye whiskey by their side . We’ll see, but hopefully not.
Maybe it will be just a good film, that will show the online gambler as just another average joe that likes to kill a little time on the pc in the comfort of his own home. Then again, that could be just too damn boring to watch….
It’s been said that DiCaprio associates with figures inside the online gambling industry including the poker legend, Doyle Brunson, who has his own poker site in Costa Rica. Readers can visit his poker site by clicking DoylesRoom.
