North Carolina ACC Teams Fare Well
As predicted North Carolina ACC teams fared well last week. Duke was crushed by Kansas, but the other ACC teams hailing from North Carolina all posted victories.
It’s worth mentioning that hockey preseason is underway. Will the Carolina Hurricanes have a successful season and make another deep push into the post season? We’ll discus the Canes further next week!
This week it will be hard to upstage the South Carolina Gamecocks as they defeated Ole Miss on Thursday night. Congrats go out to the South!
Here are the noted games this weekend:
North Carolina (+3) at Georgia Tech – 12pm
Wake Forest (+1.5) at Boston College – 2pm
Central Florida at East Carolina (-10) – 3:30pm
Pittsburgh at NC State (-1) – 3:30pm
North Carolina Central at Duke – 7pm
In the first meeting, the battle for Durham features the Eagles of North Carolina Central against the Blue Devils. Two years ago, I would have called this a tossup – but this year it is hard to even find a line on the game. Duke is improved and high on confidence. Central stinks going 0-3 against I-AA opponents. Yet, I dont think this game will be a huge blowout as both team lack offensive firepower against awful defensive units. Let’s say the final score is Duke 35, Central 14… I hope I am right as these local rivalries can be fun, but not if they are always one sided.
On to the pro’s, I dont know what to say. Carolina is awful and have a tough assignment. First Monday night home game at the new stadium in Dallas… One week after Romo and the ‘Boys were made to look foolish by the Giants in the home opener. Dallas really dominated the game, but the turnovers and a late drive by Eli Manning led to a loss. It’s a revenge game after the loss… and on Monday night’s big stage. Dallas is currently favored by 9 points… +320 for the Cats if you take the moneyline. Before the season started I said they’d be lucky to reach 8-8… Looking at the schedule now, I think 5 wins may be an accomplishment for this group. They have a very difficult schedule – it looks ugly. All we can hope for is a high enough draft pick to get a hotshot college quarterback.
Until next week, North Carolina!
