Hello again fantasy fans!!
As we close out week one in our h2h match ups, lets take a quick look at our category leaders. In the runs scored category, we have Placido Polanco, Jimmy Rollins,Mark Ellis, and Matt Holliday, with 8 each. Of course its always a good idea to have playes with high OBP in front of the perennial power guys too score well in this column.
In the long ball column we have 4 players with 4 taters each, Alex Gonzalez, Vernon Wells, Nelson Cruz, and Albert Pujols (yawn). Some interesting names here, but the season to early to start trading for unproven power guys. Stick with the big names, unless u are riddled with injuries, and want to take a gamble.
The RBI leader s far this year is Chris young with 11 driven in so far. Again, too early to start jumping bandwagons, and 4 of these ribs were one swing of the bat, although he did go 3 fo 4 that game, so monitor but dont pounce, we are talking about a 7 slot hitter. Pujols, Cantu, and Rolins have 10 each, nothing shocking about that in my opinion.
In the stolen base category, Scott Podsednick, and Rajai Davis have 4 each. This column is especially challenging, as we look for guys with high average and OBP, with aggressive managers, on teams with struggling power hitters, etc. It has always been my stance to find guys with a proven track record, Find 30 30 guys and take the power, the steals will come naturally, In the h2h format you really dont need a lot of swipes to take down that column.
On to Pitching!! In the wins category we have…Casey Jansen!??!!? What do I know about this pitcher, hmmm… NOTHING!! He has 3 wins on 3 IP with a whip f 1.00 and ERA of 3.00. Great week, but 3 wins in 10 days for a relief guy is an anomaly. 6 starters are tied with 2 wins each, all familiar names Lowe, Hallady, Buehrle, Jimenez, Duke and Lincecum. Stay with the tried and true unless these workhorses show reason otherwise.
Leading the saves bracket is Joe Rauch of Minnesota with 4. Hmm interesting, Not one of the top name guys, but considering the twins have what I believe to be a contending team, and usually keep games close, although the ERA of 2.25 is disturbing, I will be tracking Rauch to see how this pans out. He is currently in a fill in role for injured Joe Nathan (elbow), so we will have to wait and see what the twins want to do with this 31 year old.
Hallady and Lincecum are tied atop K leaders with 17 each. As expected, the NL Cy young winner will be looking to have another stellar season to back up his 2009 campaign, I dont see any reason to think that this young man wont win 18 games this season. Haladay is putting up tremendous early numbers (16 IP, 17K, 2 BB, .56 ERA, and .94 WHIP) just outstanding!!
On a side note (and I realize this is a controversial and beaten to death subject) I thought it was great to see Tiger Woods back on the links at the Masters. Despite his personal issues, he brings excitement to the game, and I thought he performed well considering his personal mattters and long lay off. Of course a big tip of the cap to Phil Mickelson on his 16 under jacket earning performance!!
Good luck in your fantasy leagues (hope you all a better fantasy week than I did (47 roto, 4-6-0 h2h, ugh)), til next time, play hard, and have fun!!

Jimmy Rollins has postponed the attempt to break the world record for striking a baseball the farthest due to calf injuries. Now the Most important Issue right now is Will He able to pull off this?
Great job by Ubaldo Jimenez in pitching the first no hitter in Colorado Rockies history!! Well done!!
WTG Mets!! even after the cardinals pretty much concede the game by using position players in the mound, you showed your true prowess by struggling for the next 2 innings against batting practice fastballs. Makes me ashamed to be a fan, by far the most unimpressive win ive seen in a long time!!!
