Carolina Football is Here !

College Football is here, and by that I’m not talking about the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. I’m talking about collage football ! This weeks big game as far as I’m concerned is the Gamecocks against the Wolfpack which will be played at N.C. State’s Carter-Finley Stadium on Thursday. The game will air on ESPN at 7pm EST.

I’m from down here in South Carolina and when it comes to collage football in this State, you either like the Gamecocks or Clemson. And me being of a fair mind and body have always sided with none other than the Carolina Gamecocks . Though I do like our local Big South Team from Coastal Carolina University, The Chanticleers too. CCU football coach David Bennet has done a good job in gaining the team some respect in a short period of time.

This season for the Gamecocks is going to hinge on how well starting quarterback Stephen Garcia can throw the ball, and he’s going to need a lot of help for him to do that. The offensive line must play physical and give Garcia a pocket. The running backs are going to have to do their job, get into the secondary and keep defenses on their toes.

In my opinion, Garcia has to be able to pass the ball this year in order to become the leader that Coach Steve Spurrier has been searching for since he’s arrived at South Carolina. If he can do that the Gamecocks will have a good year, and hopefully not fall apart later in the season.

My thoughts are the Gamecocks beats The Wolpack easily if the offensive line holds up and allows Gracia to wait in the pocket and goes through his reads rather than scrambling at the first sign of trouble. Carolina Gamecocks whooped them last year, and I’m hoping they do so again. My son n law graduated from N.C. State, and it’s always good to rib him about the game.

We have the size and new offensive line coach Eric Wolford has supposedly brought some much needed aggression to pass blocking, taking the fight to the defense rather than absorbing the pass rush.
