Any Hope for NC Sports?

Hello again NC Sports Fans!

I apologize for missing you the past couple weeks. Football time can be distracting.

So, let’s take a step back and look at the local teams…

Our Carolina Hurricanes have had a less than stellar start to the season. After 11 games, they have 7 points, going 2-6. With 3 losses in overtime or shootout. The season is far from lost – last season was similar. With some nice mid-season acquisitions and Cole coming back from injury they were the hot team in the second half, making a deep run into the playoffs. Like last year, Washington has asserted themselves as the team to beat in the Southeast with 8 wins to 2 losses and 2 overtime losses.

In football, it is a down year for NC teams. Appalachian state is the best hope for the state, again! App St. in the FCS division is 4-0 in conference, 5-2 overall (5 straight wins). North Carolina is 1-3 in conference (5-3 overall), but coming off a big win against Virginia Tech. NC State is awful. Wake Forest – mediocre (2-2, 4-4). East Carolina is doing well, but they play lower tier teams. Duke is a bright spot with multiple wins and a winning record… I personally am looking forward to their matchup with Carolina on Nov 7 for triangle area bragging rights.

College basketball season is getting ready to heat up – always a fan favorite in North Carolina! We’ll start looking at the teams next week.

Upcoming games this week:
NC State (+8) at Florida State – 12:00pm
Miami at Wake Forest (+7) – 3:30pm
Duke (+7.5) at Virginia – 3:30pm

North Carolina beat Virginia Tech, 20-17
East Carolina beat Memphis, 38-19

Until next week, North Carolina!
