An Easy Week for North Carolina ACC Football Teams?
Hello North Carolina Sports Fans!
Week #2 of college football was a banner week for ACC North Carolina teams. NC State, Duke, Carolina, Wake Forest all posted victories. Yes, even Duke! East Carolina played a decent game against West Virginia, but was out-manned. App State, a Div I-AA powerhouse also lost. This is a bit of a light week for these teams…
East Carolina at North Carolina (-7.5) – 12:00pm
Duke at Kansas (-22.5) – 12:00pm
Gardner-Webb at NC State – 6:00pm
Elon at Wake Forest – 6:30pm
The intrastate matchup clearly needs to be highlighted. The oddsmakers were not dumb adding the hook at 7.5 points. I’d buy that half point (maybe a full point) and go with the favorite. The game will be played at N. Carolina. Yates so far has been a better quarterback completing over 60% of his passes (versus 42% for Pinkney of E. Carolina). And in the bigger picture, ECU has not done well ATS going 3-10 in their last 13 games dating back to last season. UNC has something to prove while ECU does not have a strong team this year. I see this game ending 30-17 in favor of North Carolina.
Over in the NFL, the Carolina Panthers showed they lack bite. I think the blogosphere got this one right, while the so called experts saw them having a playoff run. Sorry folks, this team does not have the pieces as it stands now. Delhomme is done – I doubt he’ll even make it through the season – expect some phantom injury and then placement on IR.
I also must make mention of the Durham Bulls – AAA farm team for the Tampa Bay Rays who are playing in the International League finals. A best of 5 matchup with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees. This is the 3rd straight year the Bulls have made the finals, but came up empty the previous two years.
And I apologize for missing this last week, but you may have heard that Charlotte Bobcats co-owner “Skipper” Beck died in a plane crash. Our condolences to his family.
Until next week, North Carolina!

MaTTeD here – have to toot my horn – I predicted a 30-17 UNC win – then final score was 31-17… folks, I'm that good!
Very nice MaTTed, looks like you are on top of your game !
I'm glad to say that the Gamecocks won as well this week . Real pity though that Carolina Panthers couldn't beat Atlanta in the NFL.
